Defects are omnipresent in quantum field theories. They exhibit a rich pattern of renormalization group flows which are either induced from the RG flow of the bulk theory, or they are independent if the bulk theory is conformal. I will discuss recent results in the study of such RG flows both in two and in four spacetime dimensions.
